Tarmac’s Mountsorrel quarry has helped Barrow in Bloom with a donation of gravel to maintain the footpath on Mill Lane, Barrow on Soar.
Volunteers from Barrow in Bloom started the project to re-gravel the footpath in November 2019 with Tarmac providing the original gravel for the path. Once the gravel had settled and levelled out, a ‘top-up’ was needed in order to keep the path maintained.
Tarmac worked with transport company A&V Squires to deliver the gravel to the site.
Annette Richardson from Barrow in Bloom said: “We are very grateful to Tarmac and A&V Squires for pulling out all the stops to provide and deliver the gravel to help maintain the footpath.
“Our volunteers worked extremely hard to get the three truckloads of gravel to where needed using a mixture of shovels, wheelbarrows and rakes. We are extremely grateful to them for all their efforts.
Trevor Warren, works manager at Mountsorrel quarry said: “We are happy to have been able to help out the community in Barrow upon Soar with this further donation of gravel to help keep the footpath in good condition.
“We hope that people will now be able to enjoy the footpath for years to come.”
