Two lucky winners are celebrating after winning first prize in our open weekend quiz competition.
Children attending the open weekend were given the opportunity to take part in a quiz, where they were asked to find out facts about the quarry from the information on the exhibition boards.
Questions included facts such as how pigeons are seen travelling around the quarry to avoid peregrine falcons, and what kind of oil the trains run on between the quarry and Tarmac’s Birmingham asphalt plant.
The star prizes went to Dylan, and sisters Abigail and Harriet.
Nicki, Dylan’s mum, said: “Dylan was very surprised to find his prize when he got in from his play date, safe to say he loved it! Thanks for the fab prize & a great quarry open day.”
Heather, Abigail and Harriet’s mum, said: “Thank you so much for the prize. The girls are really pleased.”
Rob Lees, area operations manager at Mountsorrel Quarry, said: “It was great to see the children having fun, taking part in the quiz over the two open weekends at the beginning of April.
“Congratulations to Dylan, Abigail and Harriet, we hope they enjoy their prizes.”
Winners won a die cast model of a truck similar to those used in the quarry.
