Online webinar:
Our impact on air quality
Mountsorrel Quarry
Between late 2022 and early 2024, we used temporary operations following severe fire damage to our screenhouse. We regret that these led to higher levels of dust in some areas close to our site.
Following planning approval and construction, we have now replaced the screenhouse. It completely encloses our mineral screening operations, reducing the potential for noise and dust. We’ve invested in the latest technologies, including an internal dust suppression system. Additional cladding more effectively seals the building compared to the previous screenhouse.
With the new screenhouse in full operation, we can also remove the mobile processing plant. In combination with the new primary crusher lower down in the quarry, this will reduce dust and noise from the quarry processing operations.
We have published information on how we manage our impact on air quality, alongside the data from our extensive air quality monitoring. You can view this here.
We hosted two webinars in August/September 2023 to update residents on our work around dust management and give people an opportunity to ask the Mountsorrel team questions. These webinars took place before the screenhouse was replaced, but you may still find them useful to hear information about the various measures we take to monitor and reduce dust from the quarry.
